The Trade and Industry Department on Sunday said it could not comment at this stage on claims government could re-assess the granting of controversial mining stake to a company linked to relatives of President Jacob Zuma.

The Sunday Independent said informal guarantees may have been given to the stake's former owner, Kumba Iron Ore, that the issue would be looked at.
